i have a friend who needs cheap housing ($250/month or lower) in exchange for his handyman skills around the property. He can offer a wide variety of handy work such as plumbing, electric, carpentry, plowing, painting, splitting and stacking wood, and other household/yard work that you can think of. He could help button up the place for winter, help on vehicle maintenence, etc. The winter months are creeping up fast and he would be a great asset to anyone who needs stuff done for the winter!
