She's in pretty good health and doesn't need much actual care, but she needs someone to keep an eye on her so she doesn't get lost or hurt. She takes care of her own hygene, laundry, etc., and she helps out in the kitchen unloading or loading the dishwasher.She'll sweep the porch, things like that. We like to keep her active to some extent.

She does wander if she's left alone, but not too far, and she smokes, we do have to restrict how much she smokes. She needs to be told when it's time to take her meds twice a day, she needs someone there to make sure that she doesn't go outside in bad weather or when there's ice on the ground, or just wander off when she's not supposed to, etc. Most of the time during the days when you need to watch her, you'd just need to be around in sight of her. She'll usually sit contently and watch anything you put on the tv.

It's not a lot of work to care for her, but she does require someone to keep an eye on her constantly. She's in bed by 8:00PM every night and she usually stays down for the night. Unless the wife and I are going out, we're usually both home by 6:00 or 7:00 anyway on days that we're both out. You won't need to work very many evenings, normally not more than a couple per month.

We're looking to find someone to share these duties with my wife, not to find someone to do it all themselves. My wife may have appointments or something on her schedule some mornings and/or afternoons during the week. I need someone here that can take over and watch her while my wife does her things. All that's required for qualifications is an honest, trustworthy person with a pleasent demeanor who'll take the time and have the patience to do this properly and not be abusive to her in any way. We'd like these last few years of her life to be happy ones.

We will be doing background checks, and we won't be interviewing any violent offenders, but if you've got a bad driving record, marijuana possession, or other small things like that, things that don't hurt people, go ahead and apply because we don't care about things like that. Smokers are ok (we're smokers ourselves), pets, well... I'd rather not, but if everything else looks good and you're not looking to bring a pitbull or a boa constrictor into the house, we might be able to negotiate it.

The room is in a finished daylight basement, across the hall from her room. The shared bathroom is also off the same hallway. The room has it's own thermostat and large windows. You're welcome to use our high speed internet access if you like. You can use the washer and dryer, kitchen, etc. We'll make you a plate come suppertime, but other than that you'll need to do your own cooking. If this works out for everyone, I can convert some space to an efficiency apartment with a private entrance, next year, for a long term arrangement.

This is a great opportunity for someone who goes to school a few days a week or nights, works part time, etc. We can, to some extent, be flexible with the days or hours that we need you to watch her.
