This tent was set-up once and is brand new. I also have an identical back-up tent with no poles that is included. You get TWO TENTS for less then the price of one.

The Meramac series tents are all free standing 2-pole designs with shock corded fiberglass or aluminum ferrules. The ferrules are the "connectors" that hold the poles together and we use aluminum, rather than steel, because aluminum can never rust. fiberglass poles are also normally one size larger than normal to offer you a sturdier, stronger tent. They use lightweight but strong polyester fabrics. The walls are uncoated so the tent can "breathe" under the urethane coated fly. The fly uses a pole in the top, which gives you an awning over each door for excellent rain protection. The fly is full length on the sides, not 3/4 length like some others, for better weather protection. This tent has factory seal the seams on the floor and fly for maximum water repellency. Entry and exit are enhanced with 2 doors, which means if you have to get out at night, you don't need to crawl over the others to get to the only door. The second door is also nice for extra ventilation in hot, muggy weather. Our door zippers are a #8, which is one size larger than most, for extra durability. Mesh storage pockets and a gear loft are included to help you keep your gear organized.

We did a 3 week road trip and we camped about 9 nights... the tent was easy to set up. only 2 poles for the tent and one more for the rain fly. It rained a few nights, and we didn't get wet at all... in fact one night I stood up in the tent and felt a giant puddle underneath, but we were dry inside. There aren't zip up covers for the windows, but the rain fly covers them, so you'll need the fly if you want privacy, but we needed it anyways so it wasn't a problem. It's roomy, tall, and comfy. The 2 door feature meant we each had a door and didn't have to crawl over one another for midnight bathroom runs. It's a great tent.

Dome tents are the most popular style for camping with two to six people with extra room in the tent for personal items, have a rounded top that sheds rain and snow easily. This strong shape also withstands wind well, since there are no corners to get caught in breezes. Setup is usually easy, especially with shock-corded poles that just unfold to full length, plus color coding to show where the each pole goes.

The best dome tents for family camping have enough headroom in the center to allow campers to stand up. Usually dome tents are freestanding, so the only stakes required are for the rain fly -- a separate layer put on over the poles if rain or cold threatens. Experts recommend staking even a freestanding tent, however, in case the wind gets fierce.

Summary:

This is the 6 person version of the tent. I have used it for three-four years and found it to be a great family camping tent. It is sturdy, windproof, waterproof, and roomy. The tent has two huge doors and a huge vestibule. For a 6 person tent it is not much heavier, if at all, than other 6 person tents on the market. It has aluminum poles, and with a 3 pole design, very stable in wind.

I take very good care of all my outdoor gear and this tent looks new. The tent comes with a ground footprint to keep the tent floor dry with added protection.

I will also include showing you how to set-up the tent alowing you to examine the tent as well.

The picture shown is the actual tent with two doors with 3/4 screen to keep the air flowing on hot days. The Vector Dome vesttibule(yellow & Tan) has two windows on the large vestibule for gear you don't want in the tent but close by under cover.
