Fresh off an action-packed trip to Tokyo, Japan, Billy & Danny were ready for this weekend's excursion to Ogunquit, Maine. I was especially excited about this trip--being from faraway Southern California, Maine was one of the few states I have never visited.

On the evening of November 4, though, Billy called me from work. Usually cheerful and energetic, this time Bill spoke in a somber voice. "I've made an executive decision," he said. "After today's vote (in which Maine voters removed marriage rights from thousands of fellow citizens), I no longer feel welcome in that state.
We're going to Vermont instead."

So, as this blog gets posted, we're heading now to Vermont instead. I know it's only a few hundred dollars (tops) that Maine will miss out on, but I hope the Mainers will understand that their votes can translate to economics, that removing rights from their own citizens will also cost them dollars from other states.
