I’ve loved this for years, but now it’s time to pass on to another hostess. This heavy compote stands 8.5” tall and measures 10.25” in diameter. A stepped pedestal foot and flared column support a generous bowl that’s slightly dipped in the center to accommodate fruit, seashells, pine cones, hot rolls, anything you’d like to display or serve in style. A wide collar flares away from the bowl to show off the ornate edge – sort of a scalloped sawtooth design. All in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or serious scratches.
Amazing this decorative doily-like edge has survived intact for so many years! There are a couple of tiny bubble inclusions original to manufacture, verifying the age of this piece. This fine example of American glassmaking weighs a bit over 3 pounds.
