Zinnia Magazine is an up and coming publication that will serve the purpose of promoting young artists, poets, and writers from New England and the New York Tri-State Area. Why? Because it is important to acknowledge culture as it grows. Today's art class painter may very well be tomorrow's award-winning animator. We never know. Zinnia will showcase the work of all types of artists via an easily-accessible website. We will publish pieces of artwork, prose, poetry, and plenty of articles on the creators of these things. In addition, we will seek to enrich the cultural experiences of our readers by providing updates on artistic events going on in any given reader's area.
The age group we are looking to showcase is roughly 16 to 25 years old. We are looking to publish the work individuals who are interested in working professionally in their field. While we would love to showcase everybody's work, we want to dedicate our resources to jump starting careers through exposure.
Our goal is to ultimately create a professional website that would function similarly to any other journalistic website. We are also interested in distributing physical copies of our publications in small quantities down the road, perhaps at art-related venues. These things aren't free. They require time, money, and patience. We plan to ultimately raise funds for the project through Kickstarter, but we need a rough draft first. Our goal is to create three sample issues and a website before we begin crowdfunding. This will show people that we are serious and that we are deserving of the resources that will allow us to make an impact in the lives of creative young people.
If you are interested in having your work featured in one of our first three sample publications, please send us an email. At this time we are unaware of how many inquiries we will receive, but however many it is, we want to make sure that we are drawing from a diverse background of artists. Some will be personal friends, but most will be strangers that we get to know via the internet. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to include everybody who contacts us, but we appreciate every email we get. If you are chosen to be featured in one of the first three sample publications, we will feature you again in the future as a way of saying thank you for helping to kick start this project.
