This one is a classic 1957 Raleigh Sports, the Top Of The Line English 3-speed. This is equipped with the very uncommon Sturmey-Archer SW model 3-speed hub, made only for a few years in the mid-'50s, smaller, lighter, and quieter than the very common AW model. The 23-inch frame has the brazed-on shift pulley. The bike is complete with mostly original parts, except for the easy-to-replace handgrips, seat, and pedals. The rack is a period-correct English one. The S-A trigger is the correct one with the threaded cable hole. The rear reflector is present--they are usually missing.
Condition is good; paint is good; wheels are straight with good spokes; there is considerable surface rust; tires hold air(!); handlebar has a bend; biggest problem is the hub--it is complete but unreliable and should have an overhaul if you will ride it.
If you are in Massachusetts, perhaps you could pick this up on your Fall-Foliage Tour and look at the other bikes I have, Raleigh, Humber, Alan.
