This is a traditional Norwegian double ended launch called a Snekke. Before fiberglass took hold as boat building material Norway was exporting these seaworthy vessels to the east coast. This one is build with white oak and Norwegian pine planking with bronze screws and copper rivets. There is no ferrous metal in the hull. It is powered with a Yanmar 2GM20 diesel engine, that starts right up every time and will last a lifetime. It is very light on fuel. A gallon of fuel will take you all day.
We bought the boat when my daughter was one and she is thirty years old now. I replaced the ancient gas engine with a new Yanmar diesel. I replaced the coaming and renewed the decks. The garboard was replaced 3 years ago by Nate Greeley and local craftsmen. It comes with a 2 axle trailer in good shape. I will check the bearings before leaving my home.
The only reason we are giving her up is that we are in our seventies and don't putt around like we used to. The boat sits on a 2 axle trailer in good shape inside a boat house. I will inspect the bearings before it leaves.
