Halloween McDonald's McBoo Buckets - 2, 1st Production 1985 originals - $25 (Cumberland)

Complete with lids, no cracks or chips. Great condition. The Buckets measure approximately 4 ½” high with a circumference of 6 ½”. The Lids measure approximately 1 ¾” high with a circumference of 6 ¾”. The Buckets with lid secured measure approximately 5 ½” high.
Virtually everyone has memories of getting McDonald’s Happy Meals when they were a kid. The excitement over the Happy Meal directly correlated to the toy of the month. One of the most iconic Happy Meals of the 1980s was the Halloween pails. It wasn’t a toy, they were used for trick-or-treating, and were great for storing toys or candy or other goodies. There was something about them that just screamed Halloween and the kids (and parents) loved them!
The first Halloween pails were released in 1985 as a test market in New England. Halloween Pails were introduced by McDonald's in the Boston and central New York areas from October 11 thru October 31, 1985 and had a copyright of 1985 marked on the bottom of the bucket.
They resembled the classic orange pumpkin buckets and were named McBoo. This auction consists of two 1985 McBoo pails complete with lid and handle. The 1985 copyright was the premier run and very hard to find.
Each pail is adorned with a vintage original Mello Smello Scratch and Smell Sticker. Kids could personalize the appearance of their bucket by using the stickers that were included in the Happy Meal. One pail features the Bubble Gum Machine, and the other is the Cherry Ice Cream Cone - both designs are part of the First Edition Collection. Mello Smello was established in 1980 when Jon and Leah Miner partnered with 3M to utilize a revolutionary new technology to create the original Mello Smello Scratch and Smell® stickers.
