Peterboro Basket Co. Peterboro NH vintage Picnic Basket. This is a beautiful vintage picnic basket. That is no longer being made due to the business closing in 2022. This company had been manufacturing baskets since 1854. The company had to closed due to a lack of ash wood. For some years the Emerald Ash Borer beetle has reduced the availability of the wood used to make the baskets.

The picnic basket is woven with 1-inch slats. The basket has aged naturally and has darken to a nice golden brown. There is 1 slat that has had a break on a corner. That does not impact its use or its beauty.

This would make a nice addition to a basket collection.
