What began as a Red 1998 VW Beetle has been transformed over the years into a rolling arts project in tribute to the world’s greatest sci-fi franchise. Fittingly bearing the vanity plate “MINDTRX” this vehicle has served me well on the mainland for the past decade. We have been in and out of some scraps together, and, at this point, “she may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts.”
What she’s got:
Only just over 100,000 miles
Working engine (“She's fast enough for you, old man.”)
Two keys that work on the passenger door, trunk, and ignition, but not the driver’s door (chamber is busted)
New tires in 2024
Recent brake work
Some, but apparently not enough, exhaust work (see below)
Unusually loud operation at high speed
A radio that is perpetually theft-locked
A small leak in the top of the gas tank
A non-functioning fuel gauge (likely related to above)
Dents
Scrapes
Some helicopter tape on the bumper
Some lights out
A desire to avoid the garbage masher (on the detention level or elsewhere)
