This is one of the earliest TR4's produced. It's the 436th. car produced and has to be one of the very first cars with the Surrey top.
This beautiful Triumph TR4 is a true "Barn/Garage" find!! This TR has not been registered or on the road since 1984.
It was totally restored shortly before it was tucked away in a climate controlled facility. I put a new battery in it and drove it to my mechanic yesterday. A complete tune up will be performed and anything that needs to be addressed will be. It's amazing how it started right up and how well it drove for sitting so long. The tires were probably installed back in the 80's and unfortunately are badly flat spotted. New radial tires have been ordered and will installed later this week.
The body is totally rust-free and only has one dent on the lower part of the passenger side fender. The previous owner hit and killed his beloved German Shepard with the car and vowed never to drive it again. And so it sat for the past 36 years.
The car comes equipped with the very rare factory installed "Surrey Top". It was Triumph's answer to the Porsche "Targa" top. Very few of these Surrey top TR4's were produced. The paint is excellent. The pictures in this ad were taken 30 minutes after I moved it from the garage. I didn't even wipe it down or wash it. The interior including the dashboard look brand new. The (5) chrome wire wheels are perfect as is the rest of the chrome on the car.
