Abel’s Restaurant is seeking a confident, service-driven Front of House Manager (FOHM) to join our leadership team. This is a hands-on, on-the-floor role for someone who leads by example, thrives in a fast-paced restaurant environment, and is passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences.
As FOHM, you’ll oversee front-of-house operations during assigned shifts and serve as the primary service leader when Ownership or the Food & Beverage Manager is not on the floor. You’ll support service directly, guide the team, and ensure every detail reflects our standards of hospitality, professionalism, and teamwork.
What You’ll Do
- Lead Service & Floor Operations
- Oversee front-of-house operations during assigned shifts to ensure smooth, high-quality service
- Act as the main point of contact for the floor in the absence of Ownership or the F&B Manager
- Jump in wherever needed—hosting, bussing, running food, or guest interaction
- Monitor pacing, staffing levels, and section flow throughout service
- Pre-Shift & Daily Preparation
- Attend required leadership and pre-shift meetings
- Maintain strong knowledge of food, beverage, and wine offerings
- Review VIP guests, staffing, and service priorities before each shift
- Help lead pre-shift meetings alongside kitchen and bar leadership
- Communicate daily notes including specials, 86’d items, and service focus points
- Reinforce company values, service standards, and policies
Team Supervision & Guest Experience
- Supervise front-of-house staff and ensure service standards are upheld
- Delegate sections, side work, and support tasks
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and professional presentation of all FOH areas
- Address guest concerns with care and professionalism
- Support a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment
- Closing, Cash & Administrative Responsibilities
- Close POS systems and cash drawers accurately
- Batch credit cards, finalize staff checkouts, and report discrepancies
- Ensure all side work and closing procedures are completed before end of shift
Training & Development
- Provide real-time coaching and feedback to reinforce service standards
- Escalate performance or training concerns to Ownership or the F&B Manager
- Inventory & Operations Support
- Assist with ordering and tracking front-of-house supplies
- Help maintain organization of uniforms, merchandise, and FOH equipment
- Support VIP reservations, guest notes, and host operations as needed
- Update daily phone recordings and operational messaging when assigned
What We’re Looking For
- Previous restaurant leadership, shift lead, or supervisory experience
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- A guest-first mindset and passion for hospitality
- Ability to stay calm, focused, and professional under pressure
- Knowledge of food safety, health codes, and responsible alcohol service
- Comfortable handling cash, Toast POS, and end-of-shift reporting
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs in a fast-paced environment
This role reports directly to Ownership and the Food & Beverage Manager. Shift Leads are empowered to run front-of-house operations during assigned shifts while escalating higher-level personnel, financial, or operational issues as needed.
