This absolutely stunning empire dresser was hand crafted and is estimated to have been made in the 1800s. This is evident from the hand carved dovetail joinery, forged nails, and dowels on the turned (back two) legs. At one time, it was covered in a mahogany veneer that must have been breathtaking. Over its lifetime, the veneer began to crack and peel, and parts of it fell off entirely, along with some of the detail and trim that once held the gloveboxes (top 3 small drawers) in place.

This beautiful piece of furniture history has been completely refinished from head to (rounded) toe, inside and out. To start the refinishing process, all of the veneer was removed. The entire piece was then sanded down to raw wood - a combination of pine and what looks to be quarter sawn oak on the front legs. The drawers were taken apart and reconstructed with new glide rails on the insides. The whole piece was scrubbed clean, and once dry, a paint wash was applied. The wash gives a little more depth to the wood while helping to maintain the "raw wood" look.

The dresser has been sealed in a water-based satin polyurethane to protect it and give it the perfect sheen. Glass knobs were added to the drawers, and the insides of the drawers were refreshed with unscented furniture tonic. This dresser comes with a key to open the smaller middle drawer on the top.

The dresser is larger than it appears in photos and would be fantastic in any space because of its neutral, classic look. The lines are gorgeous, and the drawers offer so much storage! Don't miss out on the opportunity to own this incredible piece of furniture.

Measurements (approximate):
43½" wide, 22" deep, and 44½" high. The top 3 smaller drawers come off as one unit to transport with ease.

Kindly asking $1400. Cash or Venmo only, please. Available for pickup in Windham, Maine. To see more of my available pieces, please click on "more ads by this user" below. Thanks for looking!
