Special price ends at midnight 10/1. We have developed a horse hay feeder that works incredibly good! The feeder is basically a round bale cover made out of netting that completely encases the round bale. The horses can nibble and pull the hay through the net while feeding. The result is, they get plenty of hay (horses are "designed" to graze 24/7), but stop pulling out huge bunches of hay that end op on the ground as waste. Slows consumption and really keeps those "hay hogs" in check - you know - the ones that wastefully rifle through a round bale just because it is there! The feeder is made of premium quality, heavy gauge commercial nylon netting with around 480 lbs twine breaking strength (that is per string in the net!)! The net has a 2" inch mesh hole which is large enough for the horses to feed out of, but small enough to prevent horses from becoming entangled. These can be used inside a hay ring feeder or by themselves. If used by itself, it is not recommended for shod horses as the shoes can become caught in the net. We have these professionally custom made and they will fit a 4' high round bale up to 5' in diameter. Super easy to install - literally takes less only a minute or two. Just put the round bale on end, pull the net feeder over the bale, flip the bale onto the other end, cinch up the open end of the net like a big pouch, tie it off, and tuck the rope into the net. They are very durable - the horses teeth do not damage the netting. We have had them in service for a long time and they really last. Our experience is that hay bale life is doubled when using the net - and they will eat every scrap of hay out of the net for a net result of zero waste. Given this, they will pay for themselves after the first 3 uses or so. These can also be used for any large livestock that consumes hay, however NOT recommended for goats (or any other sharp-toothed forager), or animals with very small hooves (unless used inside a ring feeder). With the price of hay these days, these net feeders are a no-brainer. $175 each for a limited time. With the waste reduction, they pay for themselves in a very short time.
