K-8 literacy tutoring (Cumberland Foreside)

I am a certified k-8 educator in the state of Maine offering tutoring services online or in the greater Portland area over the summer.
I have worked as a classroom teacher for over six years, teaching everything from first grade to sixth grade. I have worked with many multilingual learners and exceptional learners! I have focused my work on literacy. I have a master’s degree in teaching in which I tracked the literacy growth of my students over the course of two years—my students grew an average of 2.1 years and 1.7 years respectively, as measured by STEP (an established literacy assessment). I have also taught focused small groups for students reading below grade level.
My approach blends targeted phonics instruction, reading comprehension, and phonemic awareness. I am well-versed in literacy development research and the science of reading.
I also love reading myself, and strive to foster a love of reading in all my students!
