Bailey Island is one of Maine's best well kept secrets which is locater just east of Portland on an island connected to mainland by the historic Cribstone Bridge. our turn of the century (2 bedroom cottage w/3 double beds on 2nd floor) is ideal for a small family or 2 couples maximum. Bailey Island is approx. 2 1/2 miles long and offers summer vacationers a quiet place to relax and enjoy their vacation. On the island there are several restaurants, gift shops, churches, general store, boat cruises, kayak school, public boat launches and many beaches. We are half-way between Portland and Boothbay Harbor. Watch from our wrap around porch fisherman catching lobsters or try fishing from shore or your own boat. You are 20 min. from Brunswick, home of Bowdoin College, 35 min. to Freeport home of L.L.Bean's and many outlet stores, 1 hr. to Portland and 2.5 hour to Boston. Only a short distance to historic , Wiscasset and Olde Port section of Portland. Kayak to near-by Eagle Island home of North Pole explorer Adm. Perry, explore Jewell Island's abandon military bunkers and observation towers or search for pirate treasures as legend tells us. Our evening sunsets viewed from the porch are spectacular and priceless.
